Setting up an 802.1x Profile in Windows

Sometimes connecting to an 802.1x network on a Windows machine can require some additional configuration. If you've been unable to connect on your Windows computer, and we've found that it is not a network issue, following the steps below may help you gain a successful connection to our 802.1x networks.

Step 1: Left click on "Set up a new connection or network (link)" in "Network and Sharing Center"

Step 2: Left click on "Manually connect to a wireless network (list item)" in "Set Up a Connection or Network"

Step 3: Left click on "Next (button)" in "Set Up a Connection or Network"

Step 4: Type in Network Name (Example: Reinhard Villages 7 (802.1x))

Step 5: Left click on "Security type: (combo box)" in "Manually connect to a wireless network"

Step 6: Left click on "WPA2-Enterprise (list item)"

Step 7: Left click on "Next (button)" in "Manually connect to a wireless network"

Step 8: Left click on "Change connection settings (button)" in "Manually connect to a wireless network"

Step 9: Left click on "Security (tab item)" in "Reinhard Villages 7 (802.1x) Wireless Network Properties"

Step 10: Left click on "Settings (button)" in "Reinhard Villages 7 (802.1x) Wireless Network Properties"

Step 11: Left click on "Verify the server's identity by validating the certificate (check box)" in "Protected EAP Properties"

Step 12: Left click on "Configure... (button)" in "Protected EAP Properties"

Step 13: Uncheck "Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any). (check box)" in "EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties"

Step 14: Left click on "OK (button)" in "EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties"

Step 15: Left click on "OK (button)" in "Protected EAP Properties"

Step 16: Left click on "Advanced settings (button)" in "Reinhard Villages 7 (802.1x) Wireless Network 

Step 17: Left click to check "Specify authentication mode: (check box)" in "Advanced settings"

Step 18: Left click on "802.1X settings (dialog)" in "Advanced settings"

Step 19: Left click on "User authentication (list item)"

Step 20: Left click on "Save credentials (button)" in "Advanced settings"

Step 21: User Enter Account Credentials in "Windows Security (window)" in "Windows Security" 

Step 22: Left click on "OK (button)" in "Windows Security"

Step 23: Left click on "OK (button)" in "Advanced settings"

Step 24: Left click on "OK (button)" in "Reinhard Villages 7 (802.1x) Wireless Network Properties"

Step 25: Left click on "Close (button)" in "Manually connect to a wireless network"
